On behalf of the Christian Education Department, welcome to The Lutheran Church of St. Mark!
Started in 1885, we will be serving our community for 125 years.
As the Education Chair, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in our church. Our education program is centered around the Bible.
The Bible is the divine Word of God and the ultimate authority for all Christians. Therefore, it is essential for Christians to nourish and strengthen their faith by studying, understanding and celebrating the Bible.
We have a very strong Education Department for children, teens and adults alike. Our offerings include:
Adult Forum
Except for the summer months, St. Mark’s has 2 Sunday services (8:00am & 10:15am). In between these services at 9am we get together in the original part of the church for this informal gathering. Interesting DVD-based programs and guest speakers, as well as Pastor Joe’s leadership have made this an educational opportunity well-worth attending. Also, held on the first Sunday of each month, the “Ask the Pastor” portion has become very popular, with questions on a variety of Christian subjects sparking very fruitful and meaningful conversations. Some come every Sunday, some once in a while. We welcome all who wish to check it out.
Adult Bible Study
We welcome all adult and young adult members who wish to better understand the Bible and God’s message, regardless of your previous knowledge of the Bible.
For those who wish to learn more about the Bible, we have two informal groups that meet for this purpose. The Monday group has about 6-8 people and is led by Pastor Joe. Starting at 7pm, we read and discuss scripture for about an hour and a half in the Fellowship area. The Tuesday group has about 8 people and is led by Chuck Edinger. They meet at the same timeframe and location.
Both groups are open and invite new members to participate.
Sunday School
Led by Deb Gresens, the SS program is open to children of all ages and is held at the same time as the Adult Forum.
Vacation Bible School
Every summer, we offer a week-long full-day VBS at the church. In 2010 it will be held on July 5th - 9th.. They enjoy refreshments and learn about our faith through crafts, songs, games and stories. We are all looking forward to this wonderful new experience. All children are welcome to join. Call the church office for more information.
On behalf of the entire Education Department, welcome to St. Mark! Please consider participating in some or all of the programs we have to offer.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Cote
Education Chair
